Ukraine/ Soviet WW2 occupation: PS card 20kop upr 10+80kop, LVOV 3.12.1940, Reg to Protectorat B+M. Recipient known Jewish wholesaler Rudolf Taussig, sender Helena Frischerová (here garbled on Hella Fischerova), born Gottlieb in Prossnitz ČSR. In the early 1930s, she married Ing. František Frischer. Because of his work and political beliefs, they left for the Soviet Union. Helena was convicted of espionage and spent 10 years in a Soviet gulag (in Karlag, Kazakhstan). Bychawa Ghetto (Generalgouvernement): Reply half of PS card 3c McKinley (USA) posted at BYCHAWA on 20.6.1941, transit Warschau 27.6, sent to USA, long text in German. The Jewish ghetto was established in December 1940 as a gathering place for local and displaced Jews. In 1942, approximately 2,600 people lived there. In the summer of 1942, the ghetto was liquidated and the inhabitants were deported to the Sobibór extermination camp and the Bełżyce ghetto. Theresienstadt: Postkarte aus Schweden, STOCKHOLM 22.1.1945, an Ältestenrad der Juden adressiert, für Frau Irma Hendl (from Vienna to Theresienstadt on 22.7.1942 by transport IV/5, then transport Dz on 15.5.1944 to Auschwitz-Birkenau and she was murdered there. The text contains a message about the package, a backdated confirmation from 11.11.1945, when she was already dead. Sender known Paula Auguste Löwenthal (deported from Denmark to Terezín in October 1943, but was one of the Danish prisoners who managed to survive in the ghetto.
